Jason Baskin is a well-rounded lapidary artist with decades of experience cutting and carving gemstones. His father and mentor, Joel Baskin, taught him the art of faceting gemstones at the age of 7. In the early years of faceting, Jason would cut stones for family and friends. After a few years, he graduated to faceting fine gemstones for The Gem Vault’s inventory and clients. He now has over 40 years of experience as a lapidary, in which he is responsible for cabbing, carving, and faceting a wide array of fine gemstones for jewelry use, as well as applying his precision skills to cut rare unique stones for collectors. Jason cuts stones for clients & jewelers worldwide.

Known for his award-winning, one of a kind, modern designs, and his unique spin on classic styles, Jason’s career as a designer began at The Gem Vault in the early 1990’s. In the mid 90’s, he left The Gem Vault to apprentice with many other accomplished designers, from Florida to Lambertville, NJ. Throughout his work with these master craftsman, he honed his own skills as a talented jewelry designer and master model maker. In late 1997, Jason returned to The Gem Vault and became a treasured part of The Gem Vault team. He brings with him a strong foundation of jewelry design, creation, and his perfected art of gemstone carving & faceting. With these accolades, Jason has found a wonderful home at The Gem Vault to show off his talents.
